If you are given the chance to have you own business, what would it be? Who would be your target clients? What would be its nature? For me it is difficult to answer, but I know I can.
Ahh! A different painful three thousand words! Oh my! I will have sleepless nights again! I will not be able to watch movies! But it is alright because I understand the purpose of this; this is to enhance my abilities in thinking a very useful business and how to start it and to develop ideas. Soon I will be establishing my own business. I have read an article once in the internet about suggestions how to start your own business. Copying business ideas is good, why? Because of the demand, you must not establish a business that would not, but on the other side if you can make a business out of your own ideas, then it would be better. Authenticity of the idea of the business is great but you should always consider the demand of the people.
Like what I have been always writing before, I do not have the essential part in business that they call trust. I do not trust myself if I can really do it, for the reason that I do not have the funds needed for the business as well as the resources needed. They are of great importance for you business to succeed. I do not have the knowledge also about how to handle a business because I have no experiences in handling business before.
In actuality, I really have a heart for business because I will be part of a team that will build one this coming second semester. I understand that it is difficult to establish a business especially if you have a little knowledge of it. I have read some business magazines before and it is said that knowledge about the business is of utmost importance. I have been reading magazines before because my parents encourage me, my father even read intentionally to look for articles that would be healthy for us. Way back in high school, I cannot see the importance of the encouragement of my parents because I don’t find it useful in my living, but now I find it very helpful and healthy for me.
Going back to the previous topic, we have to find the things that we love. What are the things that I love? What are the things that please me? And what are the things that I value? I think it is essential for a business to last and to succeed if you are doing the things that you love. It is like in a relationship, when you love your partner, you will do the things necessary for your relationship to last and you are enjoying what you do because of love.
I am the kind of person that prefers things that I am accustomed to especially whenever the new things introduced to me are complex. That is why when I am given a chance to have my own business, I would like to get my business inclined to the field I am used to, to the field I learned to love, the field I enjoy even if it is very difficult, and that is information technology. I want to sell information technology products, as well as having a magazine publication about the latest technologies available in the market, I would like to write reviews of the speciation of a new gadget, give suggestions for budget conscious individuals, and give trivia and news relating to information technology. In this way, I will be updated and get closely involved to the things that I love. I find it very ambitious since it requires huge amount of funds to establish the business.
Why do I want a magazine publication and an information technology store? I want those businesses for the reason that I wanted to have a hands-on experiences so that I can give good and accurate reviews and to give better suggestions for the magazine. And the good thing is that when you have a store or you well things that you love, then you will be able to have a better knowledge of it, so you can endorse it properly. Another thing is that when you have a store or selling the things you love, and then I will be able to get closer to the things that I love since it is already there in front of me.
Whenever I see new gadgets, new released cellular phones, or new released powerful computers, my eyes really glitters like diamonds as if I am hungry for it seeing it as a food needed by my and I body. I am well knowledgeable about venial sins, and I suppose that this attitude is venial sin since it is already considered as vanity. But who can blame me? These things are the things that I love. That is why I would like my business to be close to it. When I am already having a store like that, then I would eventually learn contentment. I have to learn contentment because I am a Faithful Catholic Christian.
Who are my target clients? My target clients are those people who are like me, those people who are enthusiasts about technology. If I am given a chance, I wanted to be a gadget boy of the class because I think it is cool. Since all of us are unique miracles of the earth, then I will also have to consider the status quo for my business to become hit in the society. I will start my store in a place in which I do not have competences so that it will be able to establish a name and be able to go to a bigger society. I would also like my magazine to eventually go online, I wanted also to have a business over the internet and the World Wide Web (WWW). Like the story of Kevin Rose, the maker of digg.com who were able to convert the traffics to money. Like him, he started everything as trial and when people do not like it then he revises it and publishes it again. I wanted to have that attitude in starting a business, because it is a positive attitude to never get afraid to take the risk.
Kevin Rose was one of the geeks of their school before. When he arrives in school and during vacant hours, he talks with the other geeks with their geeky topics about computers and how to enhance its performance and the latest of it. He got his computer because he wanted motivation for his studies for the reason he wanted to excel for his benefit, he requested his mother to buy him a computer so that he will study hard. He promised his mother that he will do his best for his studies and show her high grades and when he show her low grades, her mother shall take the keyboard and the mouse of his computer so that he will do his best, but he was wise that whenever he receive his grades, he opens it first and see if he got high grades because if he does not, he chain his keyboard in his computer desk, that is why there were holes in his computer desk. It was the thing that he loved, he was just building a website and he which only have headlines and when you like it you dig it, and when you do not you bury it. I have read about his story in a certain issue in Readers Digest. There was an instance also that google wanted to buy his website for two hundred million dollars. That was too much money but he rejected the offer, he said that as of now he is trying to convert the traffic in his website to money so that he will earn well even better that the offer of google. He was an inspiring person, and the truth is it was my father who have read the article and wanted me to read it so that I will be inspired to build my own website for my thesis and for me to earn while I am studying. My father is a good father for thinking and doing that way.
The nature of my business would be covering everything as long as it related to information technology. I wanted to be updated of everything, and I wanted to learn of new things so that it would be satisfactory on my part. My store would be selling devices that are all up to date; I wanted to sell stuffs that are greatly in demand and something that is new to the people who are going to buy it. The store would be like the mall that there are divisions; there would be cellular phones division, laptop computers division and desktop computers division, networking solutions division, etc. so that the buyers will not be confused where to buy and where to go. Through divisions, I can present plenty of models, plenty of devices that are catchy for the buyers. I would also like to lend an area on for those who are budget conscious individuals; I will lend budget area in every division so that it is still easy for them to identify where to buy and where to go.
Since one of my concerns as a businessman is the welfare of the consumers, will also lend a cafeteria inside the store so that people do not need to go anywhere to eat. Considering that there are divisions in my store, I will place it in my own lot and building and if necessary and possible I will not put a store inside malls and the likes. The reason why I want my own building is that I do not want to pay for rent fees because it adds up to my expenses. Since it is common in stores to have a costumer card, I will also have mine but I will put a twist to it. Considering the fact that not all the time that a costumer is able to bring their costumer card, will make use of their finger prints; since it is a information technology store, I will use their finger prints for them to have a somewhat subscription to avail discounts when they buy something from my store. I will make use of the biometrics finger print scanning and store the data of a costumer in the database of the company. Through this, the costumer will always be confident that they can avail discounts when they buy something in my store.
Another concern is the nature of my magazine. I wanted to spend time in staying in my store so that I can observe and criticize the items and give a good review about it. I will also make my magazine as a good spot for indorsing items like the latest computer unit of Sony VAIO and the likes. I will also have rankings or yearly awards in my magazines. Like every month, there shall be top 5 gadgets and each gadget shall be given a review or endorsement by the magazine and I will make sure that that item is available in my store so that many people will have idea on what items they would buy. I would also give chance for the people to publish their own piece to be published in the magazine; they could submit an article and if chosen would be published and would be given a prize, in this way people would be enthusiastic in reading our magazine. I would also be considering the comments from my readers; because I value my costumers they can submit their comments and suggestions online for me to be able to improve the magazine. I would be hiring people who will live to love the jobs that I am offering them; because like my reasons, love the things you do will make the biggest difference.
I remembered one experience when I was in high school about a drunken old man who said something about his motto in life. It was the celebration of the 17th birthday of my classmate Regielyn and there was a drunken old man who was continuously talking in English. No one bothered to listen so I lend some time to listen to him, he said that his motto in life is “Live your life to the fullest”; you could clearly identify that this man is quiet smart because of the clarity of diction and the accuracy of his syntax. He was a retired government employee; he defined his motto in many aspects and I was really amazed about how he defined it. One of his points was to “Study very hard,” I was astonished that a drunk could say something like. He said that if you study very hard, you will gain knowledge, you will gain wisdom, when you gain wisdom and knowledge you will excel in the class, when you excel in the class you will earn awards, when you earn awards you will have good opportunities, when you have good opportunities you can land a good job, when you land a good job you will earn well, and everything will come next. He also said points to religion, family and individuality. The thought that I got from him is for you to be able to live your life to the fullest you have to live it the right way so that all of the happiness you have right now would be lasting not like the traditional definition that has shorter happiness. When I lieu it to my life, if ever I am given the chance to start my own business, I would do it rightfully so that no person shall be offended in my articles; I will also tell this story to my employees so that they will be inspired about the story and be able to work well as well as for them to be able to inspire other people.
I have mentioned once that I will also publish my magazine online. When I publish it online, I will also make money of it; people will buy their subscription for them to be able to read my articles online. Online articles will also help me in promoting my magazine because in our time now, most are relying over the internet. Even research is done over the internet, based on what I have read in the ebook given by our teacher in our subject System Analysis and design that research has become convenient with the use of the internet and the World Wide Web or the so called WWW. With the use of the internet, people could also read articles that are published even a year ago as long as they have their subscription unexpired.
My target clients would be the enthusiasts to technology. Let use first talk about the target clients of the store. The target clients of the store would be all of the people that need information technology equipments. As what I have observe nowadays, most of us are buying laptops, buying external hard disks, buying flash drives, and the likes, I would place my store in a place where I have less competencies. For me to be able to start a good market, I have to start small. The purpose of placing my market in a place where I have less competitor for the reason that I want to establish a good foundation for my business before I establish one to a bigger society. Like what happened to our Field Trip and Seminars when we were choosing the travelling agency, we did not prefer the travelling agency that was new because they do not have experiences and they do not know what they are doing. Same as establishing a business, people would really prefer the business that has already established a firm foundation. Thus I have to place my business to a place where I can have a good start. When my business has developed a firm foundation, I will be establishing one store to a bigger place until I can have several branches.
The target clients of my magazine would also be the same target clients of my store, all of the enthusiasts of technology. Like what I have said in the above paragraph, most people now are buying laptops and the likes, so I will set my publication to those topics. People will get interested especially when it comes to the reviews to what units they will buy. As of me, I prefer to read in a hard copy than to read in a virtual copy, but I also consider the people who are preferring to read the article in virtual copies. So my target clients for the printed magazine would be the people who prefer to read in hard copies.
The target clients of my magazine in the internet would also be the same target clients of my store and the printed magazine. Most of us now are enthusiasts to technology, even older generations like the things that we like. Even people aged above fifty years do have a facebook account and watch videos in youtube. These people are also wanting that their computers to perform at its best. Thus, my target clients in my magazine in the internet will be those people who are inclined in the internet and are preferring to read over the internet. The internet is a very big world for us people who are inclined to it. I will set it to be catchy and to apply the search optimization so that people would see it directly or immediately.
When my business will be established, I would make sure that it will be lasting business because it is the business that I love and the field I want to live. That is I will lend it for the people I live and to the Being I respect the most and love the most. I understand if some people might say that it is quiet ambitious but this is my plan and I am always dreaming of this kind of business before. I pray that this will come true and I would become a businessman few years from now. May God bless us all!
